Hello and welcome to my profile!
I'm Dennis (or desch, when online)! I was born in 1986 in Germany and grew up in the Lower Rhine region, where my fascination for history and storytelling first took root. After studying computer science, I am working in IT project management since 2011 - a job that keeps me grounded but never dims my love for crafting stories.
I’m an avid writer, role-player, board gamer, and video game collector, with a particular soft spot for creating fictional worlds and writing gripping tales. My stories often blend fantasy, horror, and crime, sometimes all at once, and I love exploring these ideas in short stories, novels, and tabletop role-playing scenarios. My novel, Tod zur Spargelzeit (Death in Asparagus Season), combines the atmosphere of my homeland between the Maas and Niers rivers with historical research and my love for suspenseful crime narratives.
Lately, I’ve taken my passion for writing a step further by diving into interactive fiction. I’m developing a text adventure set in a fantasy world I created - a murder mystery with detective and gangster themes, inspired by the cultural melting pots of my imagination. To make it feel authentic to the games I love, I’m even building a small, custom engine designed to evoke the retro charm of classic Infocom adventures. It’s a way to merge my technical skills with my love for storytelling, and to offer players a chance to step into the kind of immersive, text-driven worlds that have always captivated me.
